Position Overview

The Plant Maintenance Manager is responsible for the coordination, planning, scheduling, and execution of all maintenance and repair work at the Columbus Quarry. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

(Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Continuously strive to promote safety and lead by example.
  • Strategic Planning- ensure the plant achieves maximum results while striving to reduce costs and improve safety. Develop maintenance plans, both predictive and preventative, that are forward looking and clearly communicated. 
  • Mechanical Knowledge-working knowledge of plant equipment, parts, sourcing, repair and maintenance.
  • Information Management-ability to disseminate information from multiple sources to build and execute maintenance plans.
  • Will be responsible for 2nd Shift Production.
  • Cost Control-ability to work with Purchasing team to budget, track and execute plans based on financial constraints.  Create and search for opportunities to reduce costs in maintenance process to improve STVC.
  • Ensure all parts are readily available when needed.
  • Meet with Assistant Plant Manager daily to review work order requests, downtime issues and report upcoming work.
  • Communicate with Leadmen to review work completed, upcoming work and any issues they find during the various shifts.
  • Schedule the maintenance associates and resources of the operation to effectively meet the maintenance requirements of the site.
  • Administrate and follow-up on the execution of preventative maintenance activities. 
  • Review oil sampling results.
  • Review budget data for MTD and YTD to identify trends and generate opportunities to improve production.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required.
  • Other duties as required.

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

Required

  • High school or equivalent preferred
  • 5 years’ experience in plant maintenance and repair

 

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Construction Management or related fields are welcome.
  • 10 years’ experience preferred.

 

Work Requirements

  • Ability to have a flexible schedule and work various hours depending on the needs of the operation.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Technical and mechanical Knowledge of all plant components.  Understanding of tasks necessary to perform repairs.
  • Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the key responsibilities.
  • Full knowledge of the production goals (KPI’s) and strategies of the site.
  • Be a self-starter and be able to operate under general guidelines.
  • Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MSOffice Suite.
  • Ability to work with management and peers.
  • Ability to work an extremely fluid schedule that will require periodic face time on all shifts of operation and phone availability around the clock.
