What You Will Do:
- Learn, understand, and comply with applicable MSHA and plant
safety rules and regulations/standards. Hold self and others
accountable for safe operation, wear required PPE, may execute and
will participate in regular MSHA and safety training/testing.
- Performs inspections and assists Plant Manager to ensure daily
mobile equipment inspections are complete in a timely manner and
unsafe conditions are immediately addressed.
- Operate and troubleshoot all components of the Plant, including
screeners, dryers, elevators, feeders, chutes, manual and automated
controls, and bag lines in a safe manner. Performs maintenance and
assists with repairs.
- Repair large construction components: to include replacing
bearings and belts, welding, cutting, and fabrication, understanding
of electrical components with the ability to work safely on or
around electrical components, the ability to work safely on or
around pneumatic, hydraulic, or water components, the ability to
work safely on or around loader or haul truck mechanical components.
- Learn, understand and execute effects of screen changes on product
quality and specifications.
- Understand and account for differences in geology and resulting
input gradations at each site as they affect production and quality specifications.
- Communicate with operators and management on shift in a timely
manner to coordinate materials handling to keep operations running efficiently.
- Safely operate dump truck onsite to move bulk products within
processing areas.
- Safely operate end loader to move bulk product into the portable
plant, to appropriate stockpiles, and as required for customer pickup.
- Train and teach new employees to operate all aspects of the
production facilities safely and efficiently.
- Complete production and inventory measurements as directed.
Measure and analyze said metrics to ensure optimal use of plant
assets. Understand these measures and use them to coach operators,
innovate new process controls to drive quality and efficiency.
- Communicate with other employees and management regarding status
of work in process to ensure smooth operation/production goals are met.
- React quickly to problem situations and to directions given by management.
- Occasionally will cut, weld, maintain & repair equipment -
skills must be developed and maintained in required repair and
maintenance areas as required.

What You Need:

- Must be able to work independently, as a team leader, as a team
member, and multi-task effectively.
- Ability to perform detailed work accurately in compliance with
stringent time limits with minimal direction or supervision.
- Ability to independently initiate, prioritize, perform or solve
problems related to deviations in work assigned in order to meet
fixed or fluctuating deadlines and achieve work objectives.
- Ability to work the allocated hours of the position.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma/equivalent. Post-secondary education preferred.
- 5+ years of sand/gravel mining experience required
- Previous mechanical experience required. Previous experience in
asphalt, concrete, sand and gravel operations, or manufacturing preferred.
- Previous operation of heavy equipment required
Expected Schedule:
The schedule for this position will be up to 11 hour shifts on
Standard Business Days. Weekend coverage on Saturdays may be necessary
and required at times as discerned by management. Standard working
hours will be Monday to Friday, from 6 AM to 5:00 PM, hours are
subject to be shortened or extended at any time depending upon
production needs. This includes weekend time as needed. Due to the
nature of the position, being at work during these hours is critical
as others depend on this position. Your Plant Operator staff will look
to this position for leadership and direction.
Physical Environment:
The duties of this job include physical activities such as stooping,
kneeling, standing, reaching, sitting, walking, lifting and/or move
(up to 100 pounds), fingering, grasping, talking, hearing/listening,
seeing/observing, and repetitive motions.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close,
distance and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to
adjust focus.
Operates levers, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering
wheel to operate necessary equipment. Operates hand and small tools to
perform mechanical and equipment maintenance and repairs.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed mostly outdoors with exposure to weather (heat,
cold, humidity, rain, snow, etc.), dust, noise, moving mechanical
parts, and vibrations. Requires excellent eye-hand coordination for
operation of equipment. May be required to sit for extended periods of
time, and move in and out of equipment periodically throughout the
workday, onto uneven terrain.
